Mile 1 – Stabilize & Breathe

A steady beginning where individuals heal first, then families begin to rebuild.

Residents start their journey in community live-in housing, giving them space to stabilize, breathe, and begin their personal healing.
During the first three months, the focus is on the individual:

  • emotional healing

  • personal counseling

  • life-skills and healthy routines

  • establishing safety and stability

In months 3–6, family reconnection begins gently and intentionally.
Couples and parents enter guided family counseling, working toward forgiveness, unity, and shared goals. This is where families begin rediscovering each other with grace.

Residents also begin the early steps of planning and preparing their future cabin.

Mile 1 builds the foundation for individual healing and the first steps toward restoring the entire family.

Action Focus:
During Mile 1, you will focus on your own healing first—learning to breathe again, finding safety, and rebuilding your strength step by step. As your heart begins to settle, you’ll also start the first hands-on steps of creating your future cabin, a quiet reminder that even as you heal on the inside, you’re building something beautiful on the outside too
